THE VOICE OF GOD

If you believe God is on the throne and He is real then you know that your assurance is in Christ. Your assurance is that through His sacrifice on the cross you are saved from eternal damnation. Instead you have eternal life in heaven.

John 20:31

But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is The Christ, the Son of God; and believing you might have life through His name.

When I think of the disciples I am always in awe. They knew Him instantly. If Jesus calls you will you know His voice? In John 10:14-15 Jesus says;

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

Some Christians cannot hear the voice of God. Most of us take a lifetime and still do not know His voice.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27

There are four connecting actions in this verse. You have to be His sheep, that is to be saved. You have to hear His voice that means to listen for His voice. He will know His sheep that means He has to hear from you. His sheep will follow Him which means that you obey His word and His voice. This is our walk with Christ in one sentence.

picture of blue sky background and setting sun. Two shepherds are out in the field with the sheep

When I was a child growing up I heard His voice clearly. Always speaking to me. He was my constant companion. I knew later that it was Him but at the time it just seemed natural to me. It was a very good relationship.

The test to this is that He did not encourage me in things that would cause me harm or would be contrary to what the Bible says. I understood this later on in life. I thank God for being there for me.

I can tell you that as sin entered my life I heard less and less of Him. When I think of this even now Father God I repent. But He did not give up. I answered the call of God in my life in 1994.

But hearing God's voice became a lesson for me to learn. Only when I was in His presence and obeyed Him I would hear Him. Obedience is better than sacrifice. To disobey God is to disappoint and hurt Him. Inevitably disobedience sacrifices the relationship.

For Jesus to know us we have to work on that relationship with Him. His voice can be a still small voice. It can be clear giving instructions and gentle. It can be equally clear and cut. And when it cuts it feels like you never want to disobey again. He can even share a joke.

In building  a relationship we have follow and be willing to let him increase while we decrease. In working out our salvation we negotiate our obedience to God. Everything He says can be confirmed in the Bible. He will not be contrary to His word.

We can obey God in the basic and foundational aspects of our Christian walk. Here are some tips to help:

  • read the Bible every day (a chapter not a verse)
  • thank God for every day however it goes
  • think about what He would want you to say or do in any situation
  • speak about Jesus as often as we can
  • do not waste time
  • pray and listen

I pray that you hear God's voice. I pray that will be able to resist the enemy and stay in God's word. I pray God strengthens you in your walk with Him in Jesus name.

If you do not know Jesus as your Saviour, you can pray this prayer of conversion:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask you to forgive my sins in knowledge or ignorance. Please forgive me. I accept Jesus as my Saviour. I ask that Jesus comes into my life as I live to be a witness for Him. Please change my life and make me into the person you want me to be, in Jesus name I pray. Thank you.

FIGHT!

Do you know the movie Pacific Rim (de Toro, 2013)? I love that movie. Can I show you how it relates to our life story? It is often said that we are all God's children. This is true as we are born to the creature He created.

The creature of course is mankind and we are made after our own kind. In Genesis 1, it is repeated several times. We are born in His image and a book is written about us, prophetically before we are born. I think this blog is digging a little under the surface today.

Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1: 26-27

We are made in His image. Most people assume that means we look like Him physically, others think that we have body, soul and spirit same as He does. I am not arguing with that.

What it means is that we are a representation of God on this earth like an ambassador. So when Eve was tempted with the fruit, it was really the devil saying don't be like Him, don't represent God, you be a god.

This carries through for Jesus. In the temptation of Jesus. He was tempted to think, wish and feel which is the mind, soul and heart. In Luke 4:6 the devil tempts him to give him authority but He already had authority, so do we.

In Genesis the scripture continues to speak of dominion so it is clear that we have authority given to us. This is further supported if you take out the comma it would say let us make man in our image and likeness with dominion over the earth.

The emphasis doesn’t fall so much on the exterior appearance but the position of authority. In representing God on earth we rule the earth like God rules the heavens. Whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven, whatever is loosed on earth is loosed in heaven.

When Jesus came into this world He continued the message of the scriptures. He fulfilled it and established that authority in the spiritual realm for us. Whatever we ask of God The Father in His name, we will receive.

Like the Jaeger we are placed in situations to fight. In this world there is resistance. The devil will not let you live in peace. He will fight you. He might seem to win but do not forget God wrote a book about you before the devil knew you.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. Psalm 139:16

From the very beginning in Genesis chapter 1 we learn that we have dominion on this earth. We have dominion over the creeping things too! The devil is creepy and he creeps on the earth.

You were formed in His image and likeness. The Jaeger in Pacific Rim was made to be victorious, no matter what. That is why there was a part two. As the resistance grows so must we. We have to grow in understanding that God made us to win.

God wrote the script or code for our human form to work. Jesus is the driver and The Holy Spirit fuels us with teaching and understanding. Every promise in the book is mine, every chapter every verse every line. Do you know this children's song?

God orders our footsteps on the earth. We are driven to find our space in this world. Most of mankind feels there must be a reason for existence and that they have a purpose. Instinctively we know that there is a purpose. Our purpose is to represent God on this earth using authority over the things of the world and the spiritual realm.

I pray that God gives you understanding. I pray you have a powerful testimony of God in your life. I pray you have many more victories in your life. I give thanks for salvation. This is our first victory. Praise God.

Thank you.

PRAYER

picture of two hands clasped in prayer over an open Bible

There are many things that can be said about prayer. It is important to remember a few things:

  • We pray to The Father in Jesus name, John 14:13-14

And whatsoever you shall ask in my name that will I do, that The Father may be glorified in the Son, If you shall ask anything in my name I will do it.

It is The Father whom you ask. So we pray to The Father and make our request known in Jesus name.

  • We ought to give thanks for everything, Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of The Lord Jesus, give thanks to God and The Father by Him

Pray establishes relationship with God. It grounds us in why we are different and how we are different. Some basic tips on prayer are:
  • we ought to pray every day
  • we should spend time listening not just talking
  • we should pray continuously, stay in God's presence

Every day is a day to give thanks. Many do not see the new day. Many things can happen but with thanksgiving and pray we can order our day. In pray we give our concerns to God and ask Him to take over.

picture of sunrise, let of blue sky and a few white clouds. the sun is above the horizon and casting an orange glow on the ground below.

Every day as soon as I open my eyes I thank God for the day and ask Him to be at the head of my day. Or you can ask Him to be Lord over your life every day. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

In the current time and until the second coming of Christ it is key to remain in prayer. That does not mean there is no rapture either it happens or not. But this is a time when relationship is critical because mankind has no answers.

The fact is disruption is the norm in industry and this means that there is a ricochet effect in our lives. Every disruption opens a portal that allows new things in. Life has changed so much.

It is faster and the things of this world makes less sense. We are talking about hybrid humans and have not dealt with the nuclear bomb threat yet. We talk about wealth and we have not guaranteed water for all.

picture of child drinking water from an open tap

The scripture is true!

That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9

It would appear as though I contradict the Bible. But understand what I am saying. In essence I am expanding on the truth of the word, there are no new things, they just appear to us as new. There are two aspects to this:

  • In our lives, there are new things happening
  • The seemingly new things are rooted in the old things

Staying in the presence of God and reading His word, the Bible, helps us to hear from The Holy Spirit and we are better able to navigate the world around us. We are able to understand with insight the root of the issues that cause us worry and concern. Christians are not to worry.

God exposes the truth to us. This way God empowers us with knowledge and understanding. We are able to pray about the issues more effectively and able to speak to others in a way they can understand.

I pray that your relationship with God grows every day. I pray that the distractions that come to you will not take over your life. I pray that you have victory today in Jesus name.

Thank you.

IT IS WELL

    I woke up today with a song in my heart. I heard it at a service I attended online;

it is well

it is well

it is well in the name of Jesus,

It is well

it is well with my soul today.

Hallelujah! Such is the presence of God. I thank God that He has not given up on me as yet. I do not think that my salvation guarantees me entry into heaven. The goal is not to get into heaven, the goal is for me to build relationship with God. This way He takes over and is Lord over my life. Lordship is Kingship.

picture of a crown for a king with red velvet hat under it.

I had a painful experience when my father died. The family dynamics changed so much that I did not understand what was happening and to this day I do not quite grasp all of it. And I do not want to. No matter what caused it to happen, it happened. So I made a decision. If I am the reason for someone to sin, then I should remove myself until that person is strong enough to not sin.

This realisation and strength came from my relationship with God. Despite all the problems I have had in life, I try not to blame God. He is perfect, and He honours His word. He said He will never leave me nor forsake me. Many times He shielded my heart from feeling hurt.

After living abroad for a short time I had returned to my country to start over. Work was very difficult and I had recently been laid off. To be told to leave my father's house in those conditions was very worrisome. I was at that time 47 years old.

One morning I woke up, I asked the Lord for guidance. I told Him, if I have to stay and ride it out I will but I want to leave. The Lord told me to get up and go by Miss O'Neil. So I rushed out of the house and went to her, she lived on the next street. She said that she had not one but two rooms to rent me. That day I moved out.

For the following months I was taken up with settling in and finding work. But there was something at the back of my mind that was knocking with a tiny little knock. I went to church one Sunday morning and the worship leader started up a song and as I sang it I felt a rush of emotion and memories.

song
VERSE 1:
Who am I that the highest King
Would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in
Oh His love for me
Oh His love for me

CHORUS:
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am

VERSE 2:
Free at last
He has ransomed me
His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin
Jesus died for me
Yes He died for me

CHORUS 2:
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am

BRIDGE:
I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am

The tears were flowing down when it came to I'm a child of God. I had no clue what was happening except that the dam had burst. For in my Father's house is a place for me, I was literally sobbing as I opened my mouth. Don't worry everyone knows I cry during worship and prayer time. Not strange at all.

God had shielded my heart from that hurt. It was only when I was ready to deal with the feelings, that He allowed it to come out and in true Father God style. It was with a song that gave affirmation of the relationship He had with me. My friend Sandra likened the situation to the stone the builder rejected.

On the corner of a house is an engraving Jesus Christ The Chief Cornerstone from Matthew 21
Matthew 21:42, The Stone that the builder
rejected becomes the cornerstone

After spending over forty years caring for my family I was for the first time in my life completely alone. It was uncanny to see how both sides of the family basically excommunicated me for different reasons. In that way I recognised that there was something more at play. I always prayed for my family and resolved to continue.

Be strong in The Lord and the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10

Like so many others today I am coping with the effects of the pandemic. It has not been easy. God has come through over and over again. I do not look for things to return to normal. I look to see how God proves Himself to me as He has done in the past. What He did before He can do again.

I think it would be disrespectful to the many who have died unnecessarily because of this pandemic to simply return to normal life. But that is just me. I think people should be held accountable and this world should change for the better but I know my scripture. Until Jesus comes... thus my Hope is in the coming of The Lord.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2

I pray that you can reach out to God with your cares and Invite Him to be Lord over your life today. I pray you are shielded from the hurts in this world and able to rest in Him. Submit to His Lordship over your life.

Thank you.

A PARALLEL UNIVERSE

picture of oil painting of the nativity scene. Jesus and the 3 wise men kneel with sheep around the manger, baby Jesus wrapped in swaddling cloth inside and Mary by his side.
Often we hear about the end of time. Jesus being the fulfilment of the word started this period when He was born. He brought a new teaching, He brought grace, He focused on relationship with God and He started the ministry for Gentiles. Quite a lot for His 32 years! It was a turning point for mankind so much so that the dating changed (BC and AD) from the birth of Christ. Not even His worst critics cannot deny His birth.

For all of time He will be remembered just by marking the date. As believers we get caught up with time. It is never enough. We get distracted from God and forget that our priority is first to work out our salvation. It is taken from Phillippians 2:12-13;
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
In working out our salvation I have a concept that I want to flush out and present to you. I will like hearing from you on it.

Concept

We are commissioned to do a few things while we live. For our personal relationship with God we; multiply, pray without ceasing, and show love. For our ministry we can wrap it up with; preach the gospel, be our brother's keeper, make disciples, baptise,  and witness.

The fear and trembling is of course, what happens when we do not continue the walk. Fear to go forward and trembling when our legs are shaky lacking confidence or on shaky ground.

The personal relationship is built in parallel with our ministry but the space between is where we bind on earth and we loose on earth. That is the point where we exercise authority not fear of the world.

In a sense this is our effort 😂. Luke 10:19 says; I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Through your faith walk you accomplish your purpose in life despite all the forces around you.

picture of the waves frothing and someone walking in the sand.

During our Christian walk there are many things that collide and separate and impacts on us either directly or indirectly. Your authority pushes one leg forward then the other. Your legs being the parallel aspects of your faith life. This is your parallel universe.

Examples

The steps your Father in Heaven orders for you can only be taken if you follow His directions and accept His commissioning. I am inspired by people who are able to stay focused on their walk in Christ. People like Lydia and Noah come easily to mind.

watercolour painting of the ark landed on a mountain. Noah and the family outside and animals around. everyone has different things to attend to e.g. a woman is carrying a pole on her shoulder with baskets filled with hay on either side. it is very colourful, with blue skies and white clouds and a rainbow in the background

Noah endured derision and the presence of God must have been with Him to shield Him. Genesis 6:8 says; But Noah found favour in the eyes of The Lord. But boy was he rewarded. To be able to save his family, all of mankind and the animals. We started over because of Noah's obedience and perseverance. Even with a 40 day period of rain and limited land space after landing he continued to survive.

picture depicting Paul ministering by the hillside and a woman in purple standing up answering the call
St. Lydia, The Woman of Purple
responds to Paul's message
Lydia was a woman who fled from the Romans and established a business (Acts 16:12-15). She had a fervour for God and wanted to do what she could for Him. Because of this she went by the riverside for prayer meeting and met Paul and Silas. Having heard the testimony she gave her life to Christ and invited them home.

She was hospitable to them, two weary men who needed to be refreshed after imprisonment. Her household got saved. Her reward? She was the first convert in Europe. She will always be remembered as such because she was also given sainthood. She was a modern woman because she did what many to this day cannot, balance her life.

Application

As seasons come and go there will be family situations, personal issues, national and international events. Sometimes we can be overwhelmed and sometimes we can be discouraged or distracted. Be like Noah.

picture of a father with his two children in loving embrace.
Despite everything your life in Christ comes first. Be fervent like Lydia and fixed like Noah. You are an ambassador for Christ. Your walk is your relationship with God. Like me guard your walk jealously! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path Psalm 119:104. God returns with being a jealous God for you. See? It takes two in a relationship.

Reborn into the Kingdom of God. The things of this world no longer hold you. Even if you have to scale down your commitments, conversion is the most critical part of your citizenship in heaven. Build the kingdom in anyway you can. That comes with living as a witness of Christ, the glory of God. Your great commission or ministry centres on this;
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20
I pray that you are renewed in strength and have opportunities to speak a scripture into someone's life today. I pray that the things of this world are overcome by your faith. God is able to handle anything that comes your way. Believe this in Jesus name.

Thank you.

AGREEMENTS AND TREACHERY

Every day we agree and disagree with people or concepts. We even agree to disagree. When we speak we must be clear and it must be God centred. As a believer we have to live the word and testify of the word coming to life in us. Because of this our yes must be yes and our no must be no. We ought to cherish our scripture even more because we have it in a language that we can understand. The Quran in comparison is in a language that Islamists find hard to understand but they hold on to it.

picture of Bible open on a wooden table

As a follower of Christ I understand that my life must be a witness of the fulfilment of the word in me. Hence it is important that I speak the truth to build credibility and be an example of the message I carry.

My yes has to be yes and my no has to be no. It got me thinking about when I say yes. Usually it is when I agree with someone or on something. An agreement made that is not intended to be kept, is a lie and presents a false state. Let us look at Jeremiah 8:11-12
11 They dress the wound of my people
as though it were not serious.
“Peace, peace,” they say,
when there is no peace.
12 Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
No, they have no shame at all;
they do not even know how to blush.
So they will fall among the fallen;
they will be brought down when they are punished,
says the Lord.
There are people who will try to appease a problem and say they come in peace. They deal treacherously because they do not really mean to be at peace with you. They mean to get an advantage over you. They have no shame in this as they have excuses to commit this kind of false promises and agreements. In some cultures such deals are accepted but as Christians we know that the false agreements will be dealt with as treachery by God.

I see this in Isaiah 28. The situation today is the claim by Palestinians that they should own and occupy Jerusalem. They even claim that they should oversee the Christian holy spaces within Jerusalem. Many people over the years have used Jerusalem as the reason for breaking agreements and laws. Here a little and there a little. A constant chipping away. Like the woodpecker.

Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little. Vs 13

picture of a woodpecker. it has a red crown and perched on a tree trunk

Verse 15 tells it all.
Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement.
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
It will not come to us,
For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves
People have given their lives to the cause for Jerusalem, the covenant of death. Many nations have been affected by the politics or politricks that are used.  This is the refuge of lies. Even the falsehood under which people hid themselves can be identified today. God sees lying as an abomination. Simply put. Agreements have been made and broken.

To bring this home to the church. An agreement is between two parties. If we stand on God's promises we hold Him accountable to Himself. It is one-sided. However, on a second level, when God establishes relationship with us He is declaring He is God over us. We are declaring He is God over us. This is two parties in an agreement. In fact on a third level we declare He is God and this is when the terms of the agreement is kept. But we focus on the relationship aspect. The relationship binds us in an agreement with Him to this.
picture of a white dove in mid flight. the angle is from below the dove with a beautiful blue sky

How God treats and deals with the Jews will demonstrate how he wants to have relationship with the church. One does not replace the other. When the Jews rejected Jesus they also rejected the witness of God fulfilling His word in Jesus, as the Provider of a Saviour. This is the foundation and cornerstone God laid in Zion.

Their rejection broke the agreement of relationship with God. They did not believe Him. They did not believe his signs and prophets, nor did they believe The Holy Spirit giving witness. They were judged for this (Matthew 23:4-7).

If I say to the God of Israel that He did not restore the nation of Israel I put myself in opposition and therefore the enemy to Israel and to Him. A false agreement is a lie. To tell a lie is to deny Christ who is the truth.  These are very serious issues that have to be considered. This is where all the drama happens.

God is faithful and true (Rev 1:5; 3:14). If He keeps His promise, it is not to be rejected. When The Holy One of Israel (as Isaiah likes to call Him) says He will restore Israel, He is making a promise, setting His name on it. Now, look at the analogy God gives in Jeremiah 3:8-10
picture of a table set with wine glasses, and plates. the table cloth is all white and the bouquets are small sized and rounded with dark red, pink and white roses. The chairs are covered in white.
They say, ‘If a man divorces his wife,
And she goes from him
And becomes another man’s,
May he return to her again?’
Would not that land be greatly polluted?
But you have played the harlot with many lovers;
Yet return to Me,” says the Lord.
The language is firm and strong as God is. God is accusing Israel of adultery. He sees the relationship with Israel as a binding agreement of marriage. This carries through to our relationship with Him. Hallelujah, we have a wedding to attend (Revelation 19).

By denying Him and the fulfilment of His promise Israel commits adultery and He sees that as treachery. The church learns from Israel's mistakes because judgement passes through Israel first.

How did God punish the Jews? The Temple was burnt and the menorah was taken and paraded in the streets of Rome. They were exiled for 2000 years, killed and enslaved. Do you want to be in their shoes? Do you still not speak of Jesus?

engraving on the Arch of Titus depicting the menorah being carried away by the Romans through the streets in Rome

I pray for God to expose such treacherous acts and false promises. I pray that the church will not deny God's fulfilled word. I pray the covers on the eyes of the people who believe in such false agreements would be taken off. I pray that as the children of God we are faithful in how we testify of Him in Jesus name.

Thank you.

PUNISHING FALSE WITNESSES

Punishment is something people do not like to hear about. This conversation can easily go into many directions because this aversion for punishment is institutionalised in many ways. From political correctness to capital punishment to setting standards and ethics. But in the legal system there are contracts and in any contract there is a clause that states what happens if the terms are not achieved or delivered. It goes like this Failure to...

graphic of the word truth spelt out with a magnifying glass placed on it. inside the glass the word lies written multiple times

Mankind has found all sorts of ways to dance around the stick of punishment. They claim that they are being judged. That means there should be no-one to account to and that there should be no moral values. We see a lot of this in societies all over the world. But it is not my view or your opinion mankind should be afraid of, it is God's judgement.

In this blog I want to demonstrate the preservation and the perpetuation of a deception. The devil is a liar. There is so much deceitfulness in this world. It is a perversion and it is rampant globally. I have no words to describe the twisted thinking behind these deceptions. Here is one very diabolical and ironic situation that you would be familiar with:

This is critically important because most Christians get confused when it comes to this issue. I will explain it and then I will show you how it relates to the punishment for the false witness.

  • the name of Israel
  • the importance of the land
  • identity theft
  • the punishment and irony

The name of Israel

There was a definite effort by Emperor Hadrian in 136-137 AD to cut the tie Israel had with the land. He went on to destroy the Temple on the Mount and to rename Judea and Jerusalem. It was a particular insult to call it Syria-Palestine or Palestina. In fact Hadrian did what we now call jihad al-kamal, the jihad of the pen. Jihad meaning effort.

He was pleased with Syria who was unlike the Jews. They bent to his will. They mixed his beliefs with theirs. Something the Jews would never do. All of this occurred after the second revolt in Jerusalem. It had taken years and the Jews would not stop circumcision. They fought every chance they got to overcome the Romans until they were taken into slavery or exiled. This was the fourth exile for the Jews and it is prophecy fulfilled.

Hadrian went on to replace Israel's name in documents and maps with Syria-Palestine or Palestina. He killed any Jew who even looked in the direction of Jerusalem. The Jews were scattered they were not to live as a mass again until God would restore them. Hadrian's intention was to break them as a nation and as a people. Many other things happened to the Jews but for the purpose of this blog I can focus here.

The importance of Israel

I will cover two reasons why the land of Israel is important. I am here now giving witness that God kept His promise to Abraham in Genesis 15. Also, in Jeremiah 31:35-37 God stakes His name for Israel. He promises to preserve them not as a people but as a nation. This is the first importance of Israel.

Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for light by day, and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; the Lord of hosts is His name: ‘If this order departs from before Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘then the offspring of Israel also shall cease from being a Nation before Me forever’. Thus says the Lord, ‘If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out below, then I will cast off Israel for all that they have done,’ declares the Lord.
In Genesis 15:18-21, God gives the boundaries;
On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi[e] of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates—  the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.

Despite the four exiles that had occurred over time Israel has been restored as a nation. They have revived their ancient tongue and it is part of their every day life despite being scattered and exiled for 2000 years. No other nation has been able to do this. In some circles it is called the Miracle of the Mediterranean!

The second reason for the importance of the name pertains to Jesus. Jesus witnesses of Himself. He says:

I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me. John 14:6

Praise God. As the fulfilment of God's word Jesus comes to re-establish relationship with the Jews first. Then He reaches out to the Gentiles. Jesus as the fulfilment confirms that God is faithful and true to His word. He is the truth. God is real and true because He proves Himself by the preservation of the Israelis. His favour to the Jewish people is in sending Jesus to them. But the rejection of His gift is rewarded by a punishment.

Identity theft

Only through God were the Jews able to become a nation again. That is, they had a shared history, a common language and a homeland. Martin Luther struggled with this realisation. He did not understand the psychological effects the Jews suffered over the last 2,000 years. Nor could he see God's hand over their survival despite persecution for more than 2,000 years. It is unrealistic to expect 2000 years of displacement to be wiped away in a flash.

All Luther saw was failure. He then concluded that the Jews were not real Jews. It was that or say that God had failed. But I think it comes down to the same thing. He like the Pharisees expected glitz and glamour of kingship and state. I am disappointed that he had reached the point of encouraging violence against Jews. Every nation that rose up against Israel, Yisrael, would fall, could he not see that?

The current twist to the plot against Israel is making its way in the church. It is called replacement theory. It means that the church replaces the Jews. There is a parallel to this in the secular world. The enemies of Israel promote that Jesus was born into a Muslim nation. This is a diabolical lie to replace the Jewish people. Many Christians today are supportive of a replacement theory. This too is a false witness.

Giving false witness is similar to stealing an identity. Nowadays it is called identity theft. We pretend to be someone else. I have researched the issue over Israel and Palestine and have dug deeper than many. It starts with noticing that on the Bible that has the map of Israel there is a note in fine print. It gives the period from which the map is dated.

Hadrian's actions against the Jews were far reaching. Other nations have banded together to take advantage of this. In the first instance they want to show that the land does not belong to Israel. In the second instance they want to wipe out the existence of the nation by wiping out the people. When so many people have been dying to achieve this I cannot deny it. It would be disrespectful to the many Jews, Arabs, and Muslims who died fighting over the land.

In a nutshell. Some Arabs and  Muslims have gotten together, Syrians, Lebanese etc. to take on an identity of Palestinians. Philistine means invaders and they are Sea People. Palestine means grief-stricken and tunnel-borrowers. Given that the Palestinians today have dug many tunnels in Israel and have a terrorist metro underground of about 312 miles I think that they are taking on the true meaning of the name Palestine.

I submit that the anguish they suffer at the hands of those radical Islamist living among them in Palestine, in Gaza, Syria, Iraq and in Iran has made them grief-stricken. Do they still want to identify as the Philistines? So far God has been true to His word.

The punishment

When we break a law there is a punishment. When God speaks He establishes in the spiritual and in the natural. God establishes the law. When you break that law God punishes you. When Israel rejected the gift of Jesus Christ they were punished. This is why the church cannot replace the Jews. Who would pay the price for the denial of Christ.

Cyclically, when you deny that Israel existed you are defying God's word. The church has to be careful as in denying Israel they are denying Jesus and the gift of salvation. They are also saying that God is not faithful and true to keep His word.

In Deuteronomy 19:19 it is clear that in being a false witness you are to be punished in the same manner that you intended for the other party. For the Palestinians that is a double whammy that they bring upon themselves.

They claim that they are the real Philistines of old. I suggest they read the following:

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. Ezekiel 25:16
For anyone to want to defy God to the extent that this lie has been promoted and perpetuated is beyond me except to say it is downright damning and evil. Many people are taught in Palestine that Israel did not exist.

It is not an issue of occupation and ownership, it is an attempt to replace the people. To punish them for existing. Talk about jealousy! It is the intent to take the apple of God's eye away and replace them with a lie. This is so twisted. God has eyes He can see straight into our hearts.

I pray for the salvation of the Arab and Muslim nations. But I pray for the church too. I pray the lukewarm attitude will be corrected and they start actively testifying of the fulfilment of God's word less they participate in a deception. I pray men and women would arise and speak the truth in Jesus name.

Thank you.
